The peculiarities of fantasy literature translation (on the example of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books)

Abstract

The translations of J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books into Russian and Ukrainian languages are analyzed in the article. While analyzing we find out that scientists point out many more stylistic irregularities and language simplification as well as a number of discrepancies regarding the original text in the translations into Russian, whereas the translations into Ukrainian are done more professionally and adequately. The article dealswith the specific features of literary translation; it is mentioned in the article that literary translation is studied more thoroughly and is more mobile and original if compared with other types of translation. The article also deals with the specific problems of fantasy literature translation, such as taking into consideration the authentic world with all its rules structures created by the author etc.
